Hola de nuevo! Les cuento que llevo unos meses en África y quería mostrarles las ilustraciones que he estado haciendo aquí. Partí recorriendo Zimbabue, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi y Tanzania hasta que me instalé en un pueblo ubicado en la región del Kilimanjaro que se llama Moshi en Tanzania. Llevo un tiempo aquí haciendo clases de inglés en una escuelita local y trabajando en mis ilustraciones. El objetivo es dejar en evidencia escenas cotidianas de la vida en estos países africanos a través de la representación artística. Por medio de la ilustración en el papel, un momento cotidiano irrelevante se transforma en un mensaje importante. Dolores Africanos busca rescatar lo habitual de su insignificancia para así poder mostrar la grandeza y resiliencia que existe en la cotidianidad de la cultura africana. Estas ilustraciones las hice con mucho amor.
Hi again! I've been in Africa for a few months now and I wanted to show you the illustrations I have been working on here. I started traveling around Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania until I finally settled in a town located in the Kilimanjaro area in Tanzania called Moshi. Since I got here I've been teaching English at a local school and working on my illustrations. I want to show everyday scenes from life in these countries through artistic representation. Through the means of illustration, an irrelevant simple moment can become an important message. Dolores Africanos looks to retrieve the ordinary from a place of insignificance in order to show the resilience and greatness that lies in the day to day African life. These illustrations were made with love.
